Max Tegmark's new book, Life 3.0: Being Human during a time of A.I. Artificial intelligence is set to change work, society, culture, our bodies and even less manpower. Diminish Diamandi calls attention to AI which will largely affect the human condition than the invention of electricity or fire. All that can be instilled with AI can be permeated with AI. Today, we have AI that can do all these and significantly more. We once figured out only human beings could make realistic painting, play music and drive vehicles. Life 3.0 does not have the same constraint compared with Life 1.0 & 2.0, Tegmark writes-calling it as the “master of its own destiny.” “Intelligence is simply the ability to solve complex tasks-or so” - Max Tegmark “This is the most important conversation of our time, and Tegmark’s thought-provoking book will help you join it.” - Stephen Hawking ![]()

![]() Jews were a people who, for moral and educational purposes, were supposed to be dead.” ![]() ![]() As Horn observes of some high-school girls she met in Nashville when she was 17: “Like most people in the world, they had only encountered dead Jews: people whose sole attribute was that they had been murdered, and whose murders served a clear purpose, which was to teach us something. Jews, she writes, are “part of a ridiculously small minority that nonetheless played a behemoth role in other people’s imaginations,” both here and in countries where they have faced persecution and even extermination. Horn’s target is a world obsessed with dead Jews, whether found in Holocaust memorials, the rebuilding of old and abandoned synagogues and cemeteries, or in assigning students the reading of The Diary of Anne Frank. How can a book filled with anger, a book about anti-Semitism and entitled People Love Dead Jews, be delectable at the same time? The novelist Dara Horn has done it, combining previously published pieces in a work that is far greater than the sum of its parts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A young, over-confident visual artist named Anthony McCoy struggles to find inspiration to get him further exposure. I don't particularly care about how they organized where to meet for council meetings. There were numerous paragraphs that laid out exactly what the people were doing but that didn't really have anything to do with progressing the plot. It took way too long to get to the point. ![]() One thing I wasn't really happy with was the pacing. He was honorable and trustworthy and did his best to help others. There were a couple that I think weren't really necessary to the plot (Jake and Marie come to mind) and I could've done without them, but I really enjoyed the main characters. I liked the characters, for the most part. However if I would have tried to guess when I first started reading what was going to happen in the end I would have been completely wrong! The more we progressed the more I was able to predict what was coming, like with Gresson. I can't really say too much without giving away spoilers (and I hate hiding my review) but I can say that the threat was pretty cool, and when it's finally revealed what they are it was fascinating. Admittedly in the not-too-distant future, but all the same. It absolutely has sci fi leanings, which is fairly obvious considering it takes place in the future.
